Audition Process
•Bullet: Stage 1 is the online portfolio submission through Acceptd; full details on how to access Acceptd are sent to you following your application, if you meet or are on track to meet the entry requirements
•Bullet: If you are successful in Stage 1, Leeds contacts you to invite you to a Stage 2 audition, which includes a demonstration of your work with actors and an interview
•Bullet: You can choose whether to attend Stage 2 in person or online; let Leeds know which when you confirm your attendance
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: Working with actors: you work with an actor or actors on an excerpt of text
◦Sub-bullet: "You will be required to identify what you would like to bring out in the actors based on their first read/interpretation of the text and demonstrate your tactics in doing so"
◦Sub-bullet: The actors are School of Drama undergraduate students or graduates
◦Sub-bullet: Online: you coach a solo actor as described above, and the text is provided prior to the interview
•Bullet: Interview: questions about your work with the actors, portfolio submission and personal statement, finishing with a chat about your needs and aims in applying and a chance to ask your own questions
•Bullet: Directing experience is not expected to be professional, but experience in another setting (teaching, university, community or fringe, for example) is advantageous; you may also be moving into directing from another art form, performance, writing or design
•Bullet: Leeds cannot give feedback to first-stage applicants because of the number of applicants; feedback at Stage 2 is built into the interview
