Audition Requirements

Songs

Two Pieces Demonstrating Your Musical Strengths and Artistic Identity

May perform original pieces or covers, but covers should ideally be interpretative and not identical copies (put your own stamp on them), unless the genre expects a direct cover such as classical or musical theatre

May accompany yourself, play unaccompanied, or use a backing track for any or all pieces

No band members or accompanists allowed at the in-person audition

In-Person Format

30 minutes of warm-up time followed by a 30-minute individual audition

A mini jack with phone adaptor for iPhone/Android, a piano, and a PA with microphone are provided in the audition room

Additional technical setup requests can be emailed to admissions@lcm.ac.uk with at least one week's notice

Online Format

Submit two pieces as either one audio recording and one video performance, or two video performances

If you perform solely covers, at least one piece should be your own creative version that differs from the original version, unless the genre expects a direct cover such as classical or musical theatre

May accompany yourself on another instrument, play unaccompanied, or use a backing track or band for any or all pieces

Audition Expectations

Interview with staff about yourself as a singer, your influences, your performance experience, some elements of music theory in relation to the music you have sung, and what interests you about the course
