Audition Process
•Students must first apply to and be accepted by Lancaster Bible College
•Then audition for acceptance into the BM Music Education program
•Audition also determines department scholarship awards
•Music Theory Assessment required at audition (for course placement only)
Audition Expectations
•In-person auditions at Good Shepherd Chapel, 8am to 2pm
•Virtual audition available upon request
•If unable to attend a scheduled day, contact the department to arrange an individual audition
Principal-Instrument Audition
•Audition on your principal instrument or voice using that area's repertoire and technical requirements:
-Voice: two memorized pieces — one art song/aria/classical song and one commercial or musical theatre song
-Piano: two contrasting classical selections (memorized); one major and one minor scale up to 4 sharps or 4 flats
-Winds, brass & strings: two contrasting selections; major and harmonic minor scales through four sharps/flats (strings three octaves, winds/brass two octaves); sight-reading
-Guitar: scales, chords, a 12-bar blues progression, and two contrasting pieces; sight-reading
-Percussion: proficiency on snare drum, mallet percussion, and/or timpani
•An accompanist can be provided on request; music must be submitted two weeks prior to the audition
