Three scores of contrasting compositions, with recordings if available

A list of all compositions with dates of composition and premieres (if applicable), provided at the time of your audition

Application Logistics

Apply to LBC via the online application

Registration closes two weeks prior to each scheduled audition day

Admitted students take a Music Theory Assessment at the audition for course placement only — it does not affect admission

Eligibility

Department admission is separate from college admission — students must first be accepted to LBC, then audition for the major

Formal acceptance into the program is voted by MWPA faculty after 42 credits (sophomore year)

Students accepted to this major will be required to take Piano Lab or test out

What's The Process

Audition Process

Students must first apply to and be accepted by Lancaster Bible College

Then audition for acceptance into the BM Composition program

Audition also determines department scholarship awards

Music Theory Assessment required at audition (for course placement only)

Audition Expectations

In-person auditions at Good Shepherd Chapel, 8am to 2pm

Virtual audition available upon request

If unable to attend a scheduled day, contact the department to arrange an individual audition

Performance Audition

Demonstrate your highest level of musical and technical mastery on your primary instrument as an instrumentalist and/or vocalist

Follow the preparation requirements for that performance area (see the relevant instrument or voice guidelines)

Tone quality, technique, and musicianship on the primary instrument are evaluated
