Repertoire List

•Three prepared solos from contrasting historical periods: classical, romantic, impressionist, or modern

•Scales and technique: two major scales and two minor scales, hands together

Application Logistics

•Step 1: Apply to Lamar University via Common App or ApplyTexas and be accepted

•Step 2: Submit the Music Department Application online

•Step 3: Complete the LU General Scholarship Application and Music Department Scholarship Application

•Step 4: Audition instructions sent via email after completing the Music Department Application

Program Requirements

•Music Theory and Piano Placement Exams available (not required, do not affect admission)

•Performance majors may contact the applied piano professor directly to arrange the audition

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

•Performance-major piano audition for the applied piano faculty

•Audition on campus on a scheduled Audition Day with 9:00 AM check-in at the Susan and Jimmy Simmons Music Building

•Video audition submissions accepted for students with scheduling conflicts or significant distance

•Be prepared to sight-read a four-part chorale or other simple texture

Decisions

•Audition results and scholarship offer emails sent within 10-14 days

•Three possible outcomes: accepted with scholarship, accepted without scholarship, or not accepted
