Application Logistics

Step 1: Apply to Lamar University via Common App or ApplyTexas and be accepted

Step 2: Submit the Music Department Application online

Step 3: Complete the LU General Scholarship Application and Music Department Scholarship Application

Step 4: Audition instructions sent via email after completing the Music Department Application

Program Requirements

Music Theory and Piano Placement Exams available (not required, do not affect admission)

Leads to Texas teacher certification in music

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

Principal-instrument audition in voice for the choral concentration

Audition on campus on a scheduled Audition Day with 9:00 AM check-in at the Susan and Jimmy Simmons Music Building

Video audition submissions accepted for students with scheduling conflicts or significant distance

Department provides an accompanist for vocal auditions

Decisions

Audition results and scholarship offer emails sent within 10-14 days

Three possible outcomes: accepted with scholarship, accepted without scholarship, or not accepted
