Repertoire List

Voice: two memorized songs, one in Italian, German, or French and one in English

Brass and woodwinds: two contrasting etudes plus major and minor scales

Piano: three contrasting solos plus major and minor scales

Percussion: one snare drum selection and one mallet selection

Sheet Music (Required)

Bring clean and legible scores of all audition selections

Application Logistics

Step 1: Apply to Lamar University via Common App or ApplyTexas and be accepted

Step 2: Submit the Music Department Application online

Step 3: Complete the LU General Scholarship Application and Music Department Scholarship Application

Step 4: Audition instructions sent via email after completing the Music Department Application

Program Requirements

Music Theory and Piano Placement Exams available (not required, do not affect admission)

The BA in Music is a liberal-arts degree with no required degree recital

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

All music majors audition in their principal performance area

Audition on campus on a scheduled Audition Day with 9:00 AM check-in at the Susan and Jimmy Simmons Music Building

Video audition submissions accepted for students with scheduling conflicts or significant distance

Decisions

Audition results and scholarship offer emails sent within 10-14 days

Three possible outcomes: accepted with scholarship, accepted without scholarship, or not accepted
