Audition Requirements

Repertoire List

Prepare one or two pieces appropriate to your primary instrument or voice

Piano and voice repertoire should be memorized

LMC provides an accompanist if you cannot provide one

Application Logistics

Submit the free Lake Michigan College application before scheduling an audition

Audition is required for placement in the AAS Music program and also informs scholarship consideration

Admission Pathway

Applied Science degree with a conservatory-model curriculum

Structured study includes applied lessons, ensembles, theory, ear training, keyboard skills, and music history

Pathway options include Performance, Music Education, Music Therapy, Sacred Music, Music Technology, and Arts Administration

Theory and/or piano testing may be given for first-year course placement, not as a separate admission gateway

Audition Process

Published 2026-27 audition dates: July 23 and August 6, 2026

Additional times are available on an as-needed basis

Remote auditions are available via Zoom

Schedule through the VPA audition application form

Audition Expectations

Perform one or two prepared pieces

Sight-reading, scales, and appropriate technique material may be assessed

Vocalists complete an aural-skills assessment for ensemble placement
