Scholarship Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Repertoire List

•Prepare one or two pieces appropriate to your primary instrument or voice

•Piano and voice repertoire should be memorized

•LMC provides an accompanist if you cannot provide one

Application Logistics

•Submit the free Lake Michigan College application before scheduling an audition

•The audition is optional for AA Music students and is used for scholarship consideration

Admission Pathway

•Transfer-oriented Associate in Arts degree

•First two years of a Bachelor of Arts in Music path

•Conforms directly with the Michigan Transfer Agreement

•Theory and/or piano testing may be given for first-year course placement, not admission

What's The Process

Audition Process

•The audition is for scholarship consideration and is not required for AA Music admission

•Published 2026-27 audition dates: July 23 and August 6, 2026

•Additional times are available on an as-needed basis

•Remote auditions are available via Zoom

•Schedule through the VPA audition application form

Audition Expectations

•Perform one or two prepared pieces

•Sight-reading, scales, and appropriate technique material may be assessed

•Vocalists complete an aural-skills assessment for ensemble placement
