Training
•12-credit minor centered on Music as a World Phenomenon plus a required world-music ensemble and 8 credit hours of electives drawn from world, jazz, and popular-music history courses
•Six credit hours in the minor must be upper-division (30000/40000-level) coursework
•Coordinated by ethnomusicologist Andrew Shahriari
Performance & Productions
•Required ensemble choice of African Ensemble, Caribbean Steelband, or Asian Music Ensemble, each repeatable for additional semesters
•Elective coursework covers Popular World Music, History of Jazz, Music of the United States, and Survey of Rock Music History
Degree Flexibility
•Supplements a bachelor’s, AAB, AAS, or ATS degree in another discipline; students may not pair the minor with a major in the same discipline; open to students in any major
