•Housed in the School of Theatre and Dance, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD)
•Dance has been an established academic unit at Kent State since the 1970s; the Division of Dance joined the School of Theatre to form the School of Theatre and Dance in 1994
Training
•15-credit minor (9 lower-division, 6 upper-division); open to students in any bachelor's degree, no audition required for basic enrollment
•Technique courses span Ballet (Levels 1–4, Pointe, Men's Ballet), Modern (1–3), Jazz (1–3), Tap (1–3), plus Hip Hop, African Dance and Swing
•Studies courses include Dance Composition, Dance Kinesiology, Dance Pedagogy and Dance History
Performance & Productions
•Kent Dance Ensemble (KDE), the school's pre-professional contemporary dance company founded in 1990, tours modern dance throughout Northeast Ohio
•Advanced placement into upper-level technique courses requires a studio audition

•Classes held at the Kent Center for the Performing Arts (1325 Theatre Drive), with dedicated dance studios including Studio D123
