•The curriculum follows NASM composition standards, including work from concept to finished product, scoring, and multiple forms, styles, and notations
Training
•Faculty train students in compositional techniques, orchestration, notation, rehearsal skills, and applicable technologies
•Applied composition students develop a piece from concept to performance each semester
Professional Development
•Original works are presented in the bi-annual Student Composers Recital with student and faculty performers
•Composition majors present a Senior Composition recital and complete a faculty-panel Portfolio Review to discuss their work and long-term goals
•Students are encouraged to write for The Currants contemporary music ensemble and other campus ensembles
