Songs

Two Contrasting Memorized Songs

Prepare two musical theatre selections, OR one musical theatre selection and one classical selection

Songs must be fully memorized

For live auditions, bring clearly marked copies of music for the accompanist

Additional Materials

Accompaniment

An accompanist is provided for in-person auditions

Live accompaniment is preferred for online auditions; recorded accompaniment is accepted

Sheet Music

Bring clearly marked sheet music for the accompanist, noting any cuts, tempo changes, or repeats

What's The Process

Audition Process

Complete the Music, Theatre, and Dance Future Student Form after applying to Kansas State University

You will be contacted to arrange an audition for music-major acceptance and scholarship consideration

A music theory and aural skills proficiency exam determines placement levels

Audition Expectations

Audition Days, individual/private audition, or virtual/video audition

In-person auditions are not required but highly valued

After published scholarship audition dates pass, private lesson auditions or online video auditions may be available if studio space remains

Accompanist provided for in-person auditions - bring clearly marked copies of music

Live accompaniment preferred for online auditions; recorded accompaniment accepted

Decisions

Music Audition Day is Wednesday, February 3, 2027 — other area-specific audition dates are still TBA

Most departmental scholarship decisions are announced by May 1
