Audition Process
•Bullet: Prescreening is required only for applicants currently residing outside the US and Canada, regardless of citizenship
•Bullet: Prescreening is optional for residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, or Canada
•Bullet: Continental US residents do not prescreen; apply by December 1 and register directly for in-person audition
•Bullet: Prescreening takes place live on Zoom, not as recorded video
•Bullet: Fall 2027 remote prescreen dates: November 14, 15, 21, 22
•Bullet: Favorable prescreen result is required before registering for in-person audition if prescreening applies
•Bullet: NYC first- and second-round callbacks can occur the same day
•Bullet: Chicago/San Francisco callback lists are posted throughout the day; end-of-day callback may follow
•Bullet: About 50 finalists are invited to the 4-day callback weekend in New York City, March 11-14
•Bullet: Limited travel stipends may be available for callback weekend applicants with high financial need
Audition Expectations
•Bullet: Locations: New York City, San Francisco, Chicago
•Bullet: Group warm-up and orientation before audition
•Bullet: Audition alone before Drama Division faculty panel
•Bullet: Present 1 heightened text monologue and 1 contemporary monologue
•Bullet: Wear comfortable clothing allowing freedom of movement
•Bullet: May bring simple hand props such as a water bottle, scarf, phone, paper, or handbag
•Bullet: Callback work may include repeated monologues, additional monologues, and a cappella singing; a faculty interview may follow
