Program Highlights
HBCU theatre program emphasizing character, teamwork, leadership, and service. Training spans acting, directing, scenic design, costuming, technical production, and playwriting. Students participate in mainstage productions and gain hands-on experience across all areas of theatre. The Department of Speech Communication and Theatre is housed in the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium.

No separate arts application or audition required. Apply through the university admission process via Common App or the JSU Future Tiger Portal. Theatre majors are expected to audition for all JSU productions and maintain a 2.5+ GPA in the program.
