•The BME combines applied lessons, theory, history, keyboard skills and conducting with string, woodwind, brass, percussion, and vocal techniques.
•Music-education coursework covers foundations, elementary general music, exceptional learners, instrumental methods, and choral methods.
Professional Development
•Students observe and participate in public-school settings before a full final-year semester of supervised teaching in both elementary and secondary schools.
Program Recognition
•The curriculum leads toward Illinois licensure to teach music in grades K–12.
