•Any style of dance that shows you at your best
•Submit by video on supplemental application or perform live at Hawkeye Dance Day

PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT
•Required for all BA students
•Learn and perform provided ballet and contemporary combinations
•Teaching video with professor explanation and student demonstration available online
•May use provided music or choose your own
•Alternative: be assessed in person at Hawkeye Dance Day

HAWKEYE DANCE DAY
•Fall: October 17, 2025
•Spring: February 13, 2026
•Full-day event: take classes with faculty, meet current students, tour facilities
•Priority registration deadlines: October 10 (fall) and February 6 (spring)
ATTIRE FOR ASSESSMENT
•Comfortable, form-fitting dancewear (leotard, tights, leggings)
•Ballet shoes for ballet class, barefoot or socks for contemporary
•Hair securely pulled away from face
IMPORTANT DATES
•January 30, 2026 — Priority deadline for scholarship consideration by video
•May 1, 2026 — Final application deadline

What's The Process
ADMISSION PROCESS
•No audition required for BA admission — the department admits all students to the BA program
•After university admission, complete the Dance Supplemental Application on MyUI
•Select "Dance BA" on the university application
PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT
•All BA students assessed for ballet and contemporary movement practices placement
•Two options: submit a placement video OR attend a Hawkeye Dance Day for in-person assessment
•Video option: learn and perform provided ballet and contemporary combinations
SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION
•Optional solo performance for scholarship consideration (max 2 min, any style)
•Solo can be performed at Hawkeye Dance Day or submitted by video
•ICA Scholarship Awards of up to $5,000 for first year of study
•Priority deadline: January 30, 2026 for scholarship consideration by video
