•What work of literature, piece of art, real-life event or person, or movie do you think would make a good original musical, and what might this new musical have to say? What role might you see yourself playing in this production?

•If choosing a film to musicalize, it may NOT be an existing musical or an animated movie featuring songs that forward the story
•Be creative!
•Expect to be asked questions about your essay during in-person audition

APPLICATION PROCESS:
•Must list Musical Theatre as major on General Admissions application
•Entrance into program is contingent upon acceptance into Indiana University
•Apply to IU concurrently with the BFA program application
•Auditions may occur while university admission status is still pending
•Submit university application by November 1 to be considered for financial assistance

PRESCREEN SUBMISSION:

•Prescreen deadline for December 13 audition: November 29, 2025
•Prescreen deadline for January/February/March auditions: December 13, 2025
•Application includes prescreen videos, headshot, resume, high school transcript, and essay
LIVE AUDITION:
•By invitation only after passing prescreen
•Check in at 8:30 AM in the lobby of the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center
•Dance workshop (1 hour) — opportunity to demonstrate proficiency, potential, and personality
•Acting workshop focusing on basic ensemble work and improvisation (1 hour)
•7-minute individual audition
•Expect to be asked questions about your essay
LOGISTICS:
•Audition day runs morning and afternoon
•Specific audition times sent via audition invitation after passing prescreen
•Free to leave after individual audition
•Wear comfortable stretch clothing for dance workshop — opportunity to change for afternoon auditions
