Training
•The BS Music and an Outside Field Ballet Emphasis combines 56 credit hours of performance study with conditioning, contemporary dance or theatre dance, ballet pedagogy, choreography, and major ballet study
•Students complete an entrance audition, freshman jury, upper-division examination, and graduation examination as part of the performance sequence
Performance & Productions
•Ballet majors participate in Ballet Ensemble every fall and spring and perform in four annual productions with live music on the Musical Arts Center stage
•The program develops dancers through traditional and contemporary repertoire with faculty who have professional-company experience
Degree Flexibility
•A 27-credit outside field, approved with the outside department, lets dancers build a substantial secondary academic specialization
•The 120-credit degree also includes 12 credits of other music study, secondary piano, ballet history, and electives
