Repertoire
•Prepared repertoire is specific to your instrument — review the suggested repertoire for your area on the School of Music auditions page
•Woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone): generally two or three works/etudes in contrasting styles
•Brass (horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba and euphonium): two contrasting solo pieces or movements; performance majors on horn and trumpet should also prepare three contrasting orchestral excerpts
•Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass): two contrasting pieces or movements; viola adds a short etude; double bass adds an orchestral excerpt
•Percussion: demonstrate ability in all three core areas — snare drum, keyboard percussion, and timpani
Scales & Technique
•Scale and arpeggio requirements vary by instrument (e.g., all major scales on horn and trumpet; major scales and arpeggios on saxophone)
