Repertoire
•At least one prepared bebop melody (head) from: Billie's Bounce, Au Privave, Blues for Alice, Confirmation, Anthropology, or Ornithology
•A solo improvisation outlining the chord progression to a standard jazz blues in Bb or F
•A solo improvisation over a jazz standard that contrasts the blues selection (suggestions: All the Things You Are, There Will Never Be Another You, Rhythm Changes, Autumn Leaves, Ladybird)
•Pianists, guitarists, and vibraphonists also comp using good jazz voicings over the chosen progressions
•Jazz drummers demonstrate swing (multiple tempos), trading fours/eights, bossa nova, samba, mambo, Afro-Cuban, funk/fusion, brushes, and jazz waltz, plus snare rolls and scales on a mallet instrument or piano
Scales & Technique
•Major and minor scales two octaves ascending and descending, including natural, harmonic, and melodic minor forms
Sight-Reading
•Sight-read a selection provided at the audition
Accompaniment
•For prepared and improvised selections you may use a play-along device (such as iReal Pro) or play unaccompanied
