Audition Process
•Three-part entrance audition: performance audition, theory placement exam, and piano placement exam
•Performance audition includes a technique demonstration and repertoire performance on your primary instrument or voice
•Contact the Department of Music for the specific audition requirements for your instrument or voice: music@isu.edu or (208) 282-3636
•Must be accepted to ISU before the Music Department can offer placement or scholarship
•One audition serves for both program admission and scholarship consideration
•Published 2026 on-campus audition dates were December 6, 2025 and March 14, 2026; priority auditions continue through April
•Summer auditions may be available upon request, typically in August; email music@isu.edu
Audition Expectations
•Video auditions accepted for students outside Idaho or unable to attend audition days
•Scholarship-only applicants may instead prepare two short contrasting works (one technical, one lyrical)
