Two Contrasting Bass Performances

Prepare two bass performances in contrasting styles to show your versatility

Each piece should be roughly two to four minutes long

Bring your instrument only; amps are provided

If you need a backing track, add it to a public shared folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive) as a clickable link

Folders are for your preparation; there is no need to send them in advance

What's The Process

Audition Process

Section A interview: approximately 10 minutes discussing experience, aspirations, course fit, and career goals

Section B performance: approximately 5 minutes for the two prepared contrasting pieces

Section C skills profile: approximately 15 minutes demonstrating core skills for the primary discipline

Arrive, or log in, at least fifteen minutes early and test any links beforehand

Audition Expectations

Skills profile may cover scales and chords, singing in harmony, playing to a metronome, improvisation, chart interpretation, rudiments and sticking, or aural recognition

You are not expected to complete every exercise to be offered a place

Bring headphones, in-ear monitors, and ear plugs if you have them; auditions can be loud

For Zoom auditions, set Zoom audio to Live Performance Audio (Original Sound) so the tutor can hear the performance properly
