Audition Requirements

Songs

Two Original Songs

Prepare two original songs that show your ability to write chord progressions, lyrics, and vocal melodies

At least one must be performed live, accompanying yourself on guitar, keys, or a backing track you have created

The second can also be live, or a recording shared as a public link in your preparation folder

Lyric Sheets (Required)

Add your lyrics as a PDF to your public preparation folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive)

What's The Process

Audition Process

ICMP invites songwriting-course applicants to a one-to-one audition with a tutor

Complete the application form first so ICMP can make a formal offer after the session

Sessions are held in person or remotely over Zoom; all times are UK time

Audition Expectations

Be ready to discuss the songs you present, how you created and developed them, and what you hope to achieve on the course

Set up one folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive) with sharing set to public; add backing tracks and recordings as clickable links and your lyrics as a PDF

Folders are for your preparation; there is no need to send them in advance

Test any links before the audition
