Certification
•Bullet: Prepares and certifies students to teach grades pre-kindergarten through 12 (PreK-12)
•Bullet: Students specialize in either vocal or instrumental music
•Bullet: Candidates must pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in Music Education (Test #99)
Program Requirements
•Bullet: Every education and music education methods course includes a field placement in area schools (at least five field experiences before student teaching), plus a student-teaching semester
•Bullet: Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement diagnostic at orientation for course placement only, not admission
