Application Logistics

Apply for undergraduate admission through Henderson State's admissions portal; the university uses rolling admission.

Students pursuing a choral, instrumental, or keyboard performance scholarship also complete the separate online Audition and Scholarship Application.

Important Notes

Henderson has not published the next scholarship-audition schedule. Contact the Department of Music for the next available dates or an alternative audition arrangement.

What's The Process

Audition Process

Admission to the BM Music Education - Choral Education concentration is through Henderson State's undergraduate application; participating in the choral scholarship audition is optional and used for performance-scholarship consideration only.

For the voice audition, prepare one memorized solo song in any language (not a choral piece); a short interview helps faculty learn why the auditionee wants to be a choral teacher/director.

Aural skills, sight-singing, and rhythm skills are also assessed: auditionees hear short phrases played at the keyboard and sing them back, plus a short sight-reading example.

Audition Expectations

In-person and virtual scholarship-audition options are available; a virtual audition submits the solo piece via an unlisted YouTube or Google Drive link two days before a scheduled virtual interview and aural-skills session.

Post-Enrollment

Prospective music majors complete a music-theory and aural-skills diagnostic exam for course placement; it does not affect scholarship eligibility or award amount.
