Transfer Pathway

TRANSFER PATHWAY • The major has no audition or portfolio gate, so admitted transfer students declare it directly through the university application • Minnesota State community college students who complete an associate of arts degree and the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum are guaranteed Hamline admission with a 2.5 cumulative GPA • Hamline's course-by-course transfer pathway agreements are major-specific and do not currently cover this major, so the associate of arts plus Minnesota Transfer Curriculum guarantee is the route that applies

CREDIT TRANSFER • The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum transfers as a block toward Hamline general education requirements • All 60 associate degree credits count toward the bachelor's degree when each course meets the C- (2.00) minimum • Hamline publishes a two-year graduation assurance for transfer students who arrive with an associate of arts from a regionally accredited college

SCHOLARSHIP ACCESS • Transfer applicants have their own Theatre Arts Scholarship deadlines: January 5 for spring entry and August 1 for fall entry

Audition Process

No audition or portfolio required for admission to the major

Admission is through the general university application (Common App or Hamline application)

Theatre Arts Scholarship applicants are reviewed on background, theatre experience, letter of reference, and demonstrated interest

Finalists invited to audition on campus

Interview option available for students whose interest is not related to acting

Scholarship Info

Theatre Arts Scholarship

Up to $3,000 per year, renewable for three additional years

Open to any student passionate about theatre arts, regardless of major

Must receive an offer of admission to Hamline before applying

Background and theatre experience

Demonstrated interest in pursuing theatre arts

Renewal Requirements

Maintain a 3.0 GPA

Active involvement in the theatre program for two of three terms
