PROGRAM RECOGNITION
•Founded in 1938, the Speech & Theatre department began producing 3-5 shows per year on campus
•NAST accredited since 1986 - the national standard for theatre education
•In 2011, the department became Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) incorporating art, dance, & theatre
•Notable alumni include Grammy-winning singer Erykah Badu
TRAINING
•Professionally experienced faculty keep students front and center of all production areas: acting, directing, stage management, technical, and box office
•Promotes innovation across acting, directing, playwriting, production, scenic design, lighting, costumes, dramatic literature, theatre history, and play analysis
•Comprehensive theatre training with courses in acting, directing, stage management, technical theatre, and design
•Senior year includes internship, independent study, and comprehensive exam requirements
•Well-rounded liberal arts education with broad general education requirements
