Repertoire List
•Bullet: Brass: Prepare 20 minutes, including 2-3 solos or etudes in varied styles; one must be a standard concerto or other major work. Also prepare 3-4 contrasting standard orchestral excerpts.
•Bullet: Classical guitar: Prepare approximately 20 minutes in varied styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical repertoire plus a work from the 20th or 21st century.
•Bullet: Percussion: Prepare a major solo work for marimba, a solo Bach selection for two or four mallets, a major solo work for timpani, and a Cirone, Peters, or Delecluse snare-drum etude. Also prepare standard orchestral excerpts on timpani, snare drum, xylophone, and glockenspiel; substitutions of comparable excerpts are allowed.
•Bullet: Piano: Prepare at least 20 minutes of solo repertoire with three contrasting works or movements from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods; perform from memory according to performance practice.
•Bullet: Violin: Prepare two contrasting movements of solo Bach, the first movement of a standard concerto including the cadenza when applicable, and a concert etude or caprice by Kreutzer, Rode, Dont, Gavinies, Paganini, or Wieniawski.
•Bullet: Viola: Prepare two contrasting movements of solo Bach or one unaccompanied work, one movement of a standard sonata, and one movement of Bartok, Walton, or Hindemith or a virtuoso movement from a standard classical concerto.
•Bullet: Cello: Prepare two contrasting movements of solo Bach, one movement of a standard concerto, and an etude or caprice by Popper, Duport, or Piatti.
•Bullet: Double bass: Prepare two contrasting movements from a concerto or sonata and two excerpts from standard orchestral literature.
•Bullet: Harp repertoire list: Prepare two solos from contrasting stylistic periods, preferably from memory, and one standard orchestral excerpt.
•Bullet: Woodwinds: Prepare at least 20 minutes, including two complete solo works from contrasting periods; one must come from the standard concerto repertoire. Also prepare 3-4 contrasting orchestral excerpts; saxophone applicants are exempt from the excerpt requirement, and an accompanist is not required.
