•The minor centers jazz language through applied study, improvisation, ensemble participation, and supporting coursework in jazz history and theory.
•Audition preparation tests contrasting styles, scale fluency, transcription or etude work, and practical improvisation over the blues.
Performance & Productions
•Students can connect private or small-group study with Mason jazz ensembles and chamber settings while completing a credential alongside another major.
•The curriculum offers a focused route into jazz performance without requiring completion of the full BM Jazz concentration.
