Training
•The DMA Performance concentration is one of three published Musical Arts doctoral routes and combines advanced professional study with doctoral-level research, analysis, and creative work.
•Concentration coursework develops sustained applied performance, literature, recital preparation, and artistic specialization.
Performance & Productions
•DMA Performance applicants submit recent classical literature of at least 30 minutes or, for jazz, five contrasting tunes with a résumé and complete tune list.
•Successful prescreens advance to an approximately 30–45-minute live audition; February 6, 2027 is the only published live date for DMA Jazz applicants.
Professional Development
•The degree prepares experienced musicians for high-level creative practice, university teaching, leadership, and scholarly or practice-based contribution.
•Admission requires a completed master's degree and the current fall-only doctoral review process.
