•This 21-credit graduate certificate provides a pathway to Virginia PK–12 music education licensure for students who did not complete an undergraduate music-education degree.
•Coursework covers curriculum and instruction, foundations of music education, literacy, child and adolescent development, and vocal or instrumental methods.
Professional Development
•A six-credit student-teaching internship spans elementary and secondary settings after coursework and program endorsement.
•Before internship, candidates must complete the Praxis Music Content Knowledge assessment and the MTEC Competency Check; these are progression requirements, not admission audition gates.
