Entrance Audition/Interview
•Bullet: Brass applicants complete the Department of Music entrance audition using the published brass requirements
•Bullet: Prospective music therapy majors must pass an entrance audition and interview
•Bullet: The entrance audition/interview evaluates preparation level and introduces faculty to student potential
•Bullet: Video auditions are accepted and evaluated on a rolling schedule tied to the next audition date
•Bullet: Submit video links by 5:00 PM the Friday before the desired evaluation date
Instrument Details
•Bullet: Memorization is not required
•Bullet: A short sight-reading excerpt may be requested
Post-Enrollment Candidacy Gate
•Bullet: Freshman-level acceptance does not guarantee candidacy for the Bachelor of Music Therapy degree
•Bullet: At the conclusion of sophomore year, music therapy majors must pass a formal interview/audition for official BMT candidacy
•Bullet: The candidacy audition includes one principal-instrument piece plus self-accompaniment on guitar and piano with ten memorized songs on each instrument
Scholarship Consideration
•Bullet: Live in-person auditions automatically include scholarship consideration
•Bullet: Video auditioners may be asked for a live follow-up audition by livestream or in person for scholarship consideration
