Additional Materials

Repertoire — Strings, Guitar, Brass & Woodwinds

Repertoire: Perform two or three contrasting pieces and three scales appropriate for the instrument; total repertoire must be under 10 minutes

Repertoire — Percussion

Repertoire: Perform one mallet piece and one drum piece (snare, timpani, or multiple percussion); drum-kit players add a kit performance alone or in an ensemble; total repertoire must be under 10 minutes

Repertoire — Piano

Repertoire: Perform three contrasting pieces; audition length must be no more than 15 minutes

Repertoire — Voice

Repertoire: Perform two or three contrasting pieces; solo or ensemble literature is acceptable

Application Logistics

Apply through the George Fox University application or the Common Application

There is no separate music application for admission; the Music Scholarship & Artistic Achievement Scholarship application is required only for scholarship consideration

Eligibility

George Fox is a test-free institution — SAT and ACT scores are not required for admission

Music scholarships are open to music majors, minors, double majors, and interdisciplinary majors

Artistic Achievement & Participation Awards are open to all incoming students, not only music majors

Important Notes

Artistic Achievement applications submitted by March 1 receive priority consideration; applications through August 1 are reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis

Scholarship recipients must enroll at George Fox, participate in at least one major ensemble, and take weekly private lessons

What's The Process

Audition Process

No performance audition is required for admission to this concentration

An audition is required only for Music Scholarships or Artistic Achievement & Participation Awards

Music majors should audition on campus when possible; a remote audition is acceptable for long-distance applicants

Music minors and non-music majors seeking an Artistic Achievement Award submit a performance video, followed by a brief in-person or Zoom interview

Submit the Music Scholarship & Artistic Achievement Scholarship application and arrange for one recommendation from a music teacher or worship leader

Music majors also register for Scholarship Summit through their admissions coach

The department schedules the interview/audition after all documents are received

For fall 2027 entrants, Early Action virtual interviews are Feb. 1-4, 2027, with on-campus interviews Feb. 5

Priority Decision virtual interviews are Mar. 1-4, 2027, with on-campus interviews Mar. 5

Music Artistic Achievement & Participation Awards

$1,000 to $2,000 per year

Awarded by music faculty based on an audition or portfolio, application, and letter of recommendation

Open to all incoming students who intend to contribute to campus music life

Music Scholarships

Music majors, double majors, and interdisciplinary majors are eligible for additional music scholarships and endowed departmental awards

Scholarship Summit

A department interview can add $1,000 to $3,000 per year on top of merit scholarships
