Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Dance

Dance Audition

•Entrance requires a jazz dance audition followed by an interview.

•Applicants need intermediate-level jazz training; training in additional dance forms is an asset.

•The program page lists a minimum of five years of jazz dance training.

Video Submission

•Include barre work: plies, tendues, degages, fondue, rond de jambe and adage.

•Include jazz steps as individual exercises: center turning combination, center floor work, kicks across the floor and jumps across the floor.

•Include a short jazz or contemporary combination and a short hip hop combination.

•Performance footage up to 3 minutes is optional.

Ballet

Ballet Background

•Ballet is part of the program training alongside jazz, hip hop, acting, vocals and chorus repertoire.

•Admission emphasis is on jazz training; additional dance forms are considered an asset.

Additional Materials

Resume

•Resume required; bring to the live audition or submit as a PDF for a video audition.

Headshot

•Headshot and dance photo required; bring or submit with audition materials.

Essay

•Essay required; one page maximum on why you wish to join the program at George Brown.

Video

•Video required for video audition submissions.

•Video link must be a YouTube, Vimeo or Dropbox link sent to auditions@balletjorgen.ca with the subject line indicating the program.

•Video length must not exceed 15 minutes.

Application Logistics

•Apply through Ontario Colleges or the George Brown Polytechnic international application system before registering for the dance audition.

•George Brown says your application must be accepted before you are given an audition date.

•Register for the dance audition through Jorgen Dance.

Important Notes

•The current dance audition page lists a 60 CAD audition fee paid in advance; Jorgen Dance says the fee is paid once per audition, not per program.

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Entrance into George Brown Dance programs is by audition only.

•Current George Brown guidance says audition requests are being accepted through video submissions; Jorgen Dance also lists in-person, video, and Zoom audition options.

•Auditions are dance classes and/or taught choreography, so registrants do not need to prepare their own audition material for live auditions.

Audition Expectations

•Bring or submit a dance resume, headshot and dance photo.

•George Brown Dance auditions require a short essay.

•A short interview may be conducted after the audition.
