•One Directing student receives the focused support of the Head of Directing throughout the three-year residency
•The curriculum combines advanced directing, camera techniques, theatre internship, independent research, dramatic textual analysis, theatre history, styles of performance, and seminars across technical production and design
Performance & Productions
•The directing candidate leads three fully realized Mainstage productions in proscenium, thrust, and arena venues with full departmental production support
•The department mounts 12-15 major productions each year across five venues
Professional Development
•Candidates gain classroom teaching experience, including serving as instructor for directing fundamentals courses, and graduate prepared for regional-theatre artistic work, college teaching, freelance directing, or company leadership
