Audition Process
•University admission is required before acceptance as a Music major
•Audition in your chosen performing area and declare an area of study at the audition
•Auditions may be scheduled throughout the year for major admission
•Virtual auditions and video submissions are accepted
•Music scholarship auditions also count as the major acceptance audition
Audition Expectations
•Applicants are expected to match a single pitch and short pitch sequences
•A brief music theory diagnostic exam is administered before the audition
•Students may receive conditional status based on proficiency
•Memorization of audition repertoire is encouraged but not required
•A staff accompanist is provided for vocal auditions
•Instrumental accompanist is optional
•Send accompanist music to the Department Chair at least 1 week before the audition if needed
•Guitarists using electric guitar should bring a 1/4-inch jack adapter cord
