Songs
ONE 16-32 BAR CUT
•From the musical theatre genre
•Must bring sheet music for accompanist (in-person)
•For virtual: may use live or recorded accompaniment
Monologues
ONE CONTEMPORARY MONOLOGUE, 1 min
•Dramatic or comic monologue from a published play
•Present in your natural voice without dialects
•A secondary, contrasting contemporary monologue may be requested by faculty
Dance
DANCE CALL
•Must be prepared to participate in a dance call (in-person audition)
VIRTUAL OPTION
•Submit 60-90 seconds of dance in any discipline (jazz, ballet, modern, African, hip hop, lyrical, or contemporary)
•Full body must be visible in frame at all times
ATTIRE
•Women: character shoes, jazz shoes, or ballet slippers; leotard, tights, dance skirt, or non-bulky warm-up wear
•Men: jazz or ballet shoes, tights or sweatpants and t-shirt

What's The Process
SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION
•Audition is for fine arts scholarship consideration, not required for program admission
•Schedule via the Fine Arts Scholarship Application on the Friends University website
FORMAT
•In-person auditions held on campus
•Virtual auditions available via Zoom with video submissions
•Three components: monologue, song, and dance
VIRTUAL VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
•Upload videos to YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud
•Email links to Joice Henry, Director of Musical Theatre (joice_henry@friends.edu)
•Submit 2-5 clips total (not per area), 60-90 seconds each, no more than 3 minutes per segment
•Clips that demonstrate more than one area are acceptable (e.g., singing and dancing)
