MTCP Song Option C

Fredonia lets applicants select either MTCP Option A or Option B, whichever serves them best

Option A

One song written before 1970 (musical theater, Golden Age, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

One song written after 1970 in a contrasting style

Option B

One musical theater song from any time period

One song of your choice from any time period and in any style that contrasts the first selection

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One monologue from a published play or by a professional writer

A professional writer is someone whose plays have been produced, but may not have been professionally published

Dance

MTCP Dance Option B

Show your best version of dancing or moving

Must be from published plays or by professional writers

Dance

Group Dance Audition

Dance portion held 11:15 AM–12:15 PM on audition day

All movement material given by faculty — nothing to prepare in advance

Wear dance-appropriate attire; bring ballet and jazz shoes (if available); be prepared to work barefoot

Singing/acting portion scheduled morning or afternoon

Additional Materials

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants to Fredonia’s BFA Musical Theatre program audition before the semester they plan to enroll. Accepted transfers may be placed in the first- or second-year sequence based on prior work, completed classes, recommendations, and academic-record review; most BFA transfers should plan on at least three years to complete the degree.

Audition Process

Submit MTCP prescreen materials through Acceptd

Faculty reviews prescreen materials; successful applicants are invited to an on-campus or remote audition

Submit materials at least two weeks before your desired audition date to allow 1–2 weeks for faculty review

Audition Expectations

Remote and in-person auditions are available on all listed dates

If invited, indicate your preferred audition date
