Requirements
•Contemporary/Modern Dance (2 minutes): A center or traveling phrase or phrases, no more than 2 minutes in length, that demonstrates the dancer's understanding of the use of weight and space, and elements such as turns, falls, jumps, and floor work
•Jazz Dance (2 minutes): A center or traveling phrase or phrases, no more than 2 minutes in length, that demonstrates the dancer's understanding of Africanist aesthetics, an articulate torso, isolation, syncopation, and groove
•Dancer's Choice (Optional — up to 2 minutes): A center or traveling phrase or phrases, no more than 2 minutes in length, that clearly shows the dancer's understanding of a technique or movement vocabulary of their choice not covered by the Contemporary or Jazz requirements above; may draw from (but is not limited to) Theatrical Dance forms (Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre Dance, etc.), Social Dance forms (House, Hip Hop, Latin Dances, Ballroom, etc.), or Folk/World Dance forms (Irish, Flamenco, African forms, Asian forms, etc.)
•Solo Performance (90 seconds–2 minutes): A choreographed solo that clearly shows the dancer's strengths as a performer; may be created in any form, style, or discipline of dance and should focus on elements of performance such as connection to music, use of space, dynamic range, and use of the body as an instrument of communication and physical storytelling
