Prescreen Requirements

Monologues

Two (2) Contrasting Monologues, 60-90 Sec Each

Time limit includes the slate at the beginning and is strictly enforced; do not upload files longer than 90 seconds

Monologues must be from a published play

May not come from musicals, television shows, or movies

Contemporary Monologue

Written after 1900

Film in a close-up shot: top of head to chest visible in frame

Modern or Classical Monologue

Choose material with heightened language or a classical/modern style

Examples may include Sophocles, Aristophanes, Moliere, Shakespeare, August Wilson, Arthur Miller, Thornton Wilder, Lorraine Hansberry, Tony Kushner, or contemporary adaptations of classical plays

Film in a full-body shot: top of head to feet on floor visible in frame

Only perform Shakespeare if you feel comfortable doing so

Can be anything: a special skill, an interesting story, a passion speech, an instrument you play, etc.

Students not accepted may re-audition one additional time

Cannot audition after accumulating 60+ credit hours

Admission Pathway

Students who audition for BFA Musical Theatre are also simultaneously considered for BFA Acting

Important Notes

Acceptd fee waivers available with advance documentation

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants to Fredonia’s BFA Acting program audition before the semester they plan to enroll. Accepted transfers may be placed in the first- or second-year sequence based on prior work, completed classes, recommendations, and academic-record review; most BFA transfers should plan on at least three years to complete the degree.

Audition Process

Submit a prescreen video through Acceptd

Faculty reviews prescreen materials; successful applicants are invited to an on-campus or remote audition

Submit materials at least two weeks before your desired audition date to allow 1–2 weeks for faculty review

Audition Expectations

Both on-campus and remote auditions are available

Two additional contrasting monologues, different from prescreen selections, not to exceed 3 minutes total

Short interview with faculty (~20 minutes total including monologues)

Improvisations and exercises with the audition panel

If invited, indicate your preferred audition date
