TRAINING
•Comprehensive 2-year AA program with strong fundamentals in costumes, makeup, scenery, lighting, theatre management, and design
•Prepares for six technical fields: scene shop technician, costume shop technician, theatre electrician, properties artisan, stage management, and makeup artist
•Classes available for credit (toward a degree or career certificate) or non-credit (job skills and enrichment)
•Additional certificates offered: Theatre Production Organization, Theatre Technology, and Theatre Costume and Makeup (credit and non-credit variants)
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTIONS
•Build technical elements for 3 major departmental productions each academic year, including the annual musical
•Create and maintain a professional technical portfolio through coursework
•Production crew opportunities: set construction, props, stage crew, wardrobe, and operating lighting, sound, or projections
•Leadership progression: wardrobe supervisor, props supervisor, assistant stage manager, stage manager
•Creative design roles for advanced students: lighting designer, sound designer, costume designer, and projections designer
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
•Direct contact with local Bay Area theatre companies, with opportunities to work on their productions
•Students and alumni work with theatre companies throughout the Bay Area and beyond
•Advanced students assisted with internship and employment placement
•Prepares graduates for transfer to a 4-year college or entry-level positions in professional and community theatre
