Songs

MTCP Song Option B

Two Contrasting Songs, 60-90 Seconds Each

One ballad with longer, sustained vocal lines

One uptempo where the vocal line moves at a conversational pace

One musical theater song from any time period

One song of your choice from any time period and any style that contrasts the first selection

Accompaniment

Sing to musical accompaniment, live or pre-recorded

No a cappella singing

Video Format

Upload each song as a separate file

Film in 3/4 shot with top of head to knees visible

Slate at the beginning of each song with your name, song title, and show

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One monologue from a published play or written by a professional writer whose plays have been produced

60-90 seconds, including the slate

Video Format

Film full body (head to feet) or close-up (head to chest)

Slate at the beginning with your name, title of the play, and playwright

Dance

MTCP Dance Option B

One Dance Video, 30-60 Seconds

Dance in the discipline you feel most confident: jazz, ballet, tap, modern, cultural styles, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, or another style

Choreography should be story-driven and connected to the music

Show your best version of dancing or moving

Guidelines

No barre work

Use steps and vocabulary you can execute well

Must be a solo video; show or competition footage is acceptable if you are clearly featured alone

May be self-choreographed

Must be performed to music; no a cappella dance media

Video Format

Film full body with your entire body visible at all times

Slate at the beginning with your name, song title, and choreographer name

Wild Card

Optional, 60 sec max

Can be anything: a special skill, interesting story, passion speech, instrument you play, etc.

No slate required for wild card media

Prompt: "What do you want us to know about you?" and "What makes you unique?"

BFA audition candidates automatically considered for scholarship eligibility

What's The Process

Audition Process

Upload each piece as a separate media file; do not submit continuous videos

Standard recording devices are acceptable, including smartphones and tablets

Applicants are notified by email of their prescreen outcome by the notification date associated with the upload deadline

Students must have applied to FSC but do not need an admission decision to register for prescreen

Audition Expectations

Invited candidates audition on-site in Lakeland or by virtual session

FSC also auditions at Pittsburgh Unified Auditions and Florida Theatre Conference

BFA audition candidates are automatically considered for talent scholarship eligibility through the faculty audition/interview
