Prescreen Requirements

Songs

Vocal Prescreen

•Submit 2 prescreening videos performing the same repertoire as the live audition

•Preferred to use accompanist or piano track; acapella not recommended

Repertoire

•2 contrasting selections performed from memory

•One in English and one in a foreign language (French, Italian, German, Spanish, or Latin)

•Selections must be from classical repertoire: art songs, accompanied folk songs, spirituals, early Italian arias (17th-18th century), French mélodie, German Lied, and/or opera or oratorio arias

•Musical theater songs are NOT permitted

•Piano scores must be submitted through Acceptd before the application deadline

Application Logistics

•Must complete both FGCU university application and Bower School of Music supplemental application via Acceptd

•Select preferred audition date during Acceptd application

•No vocal applications accepted after 5:00 pm on February 27

•Virtual audition deadline: 5:00 pm on March 27

Eligibility

•Fall admission only for new students

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Submit prescreen video via Acceptd

•Approved applicants will be invited to live audition

•Confirmation email sent no later than the week before audition date

•Avoid making travel arrangements until confirmation received

Audition Expectations

•On-campus audition on selected date

•Virtual audition option available for out-of-state/international applicants

•Virtual audition deadline: March 27, 2026

Decisions

•Acceptance/non-acceptance letters sent via email approximately 2 weeks after each audition

•Admission requires acceptance by both Music Department and FGCU Admissions

•If denied, may reapply the following semester; denied twice = no longer eligible

Scholarship Info

Music Scholarship

•Must complete both FAFSA and FGCU Foundation Scholarship application to be eligible

•FGCU Foundation Scholarship application open October 1 - May 1

•FAFSA priority filing deadline: March 1

Renewal Requirements

•Maintain overall 2.5 GPA with no F grades

•Maintain 3.0 GPA in music classes with no grades below C

•Demonstrate continuing progress through applied lessons, ensemble performance, recital appearances, and jury examinations
