Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire

Prepare the repertoire for your applied instrument or voice using the matching BM/BA instrument requirements

Video (Required)

Submit three singing videos to Acceptd by the deadline — informational only, not part of the audition

Sing three prepared songs from three different musical styles (e.g., children's, country, pop, spiritual)

Good to Know

Application Logistics

Complete both the FGCU university application and the Bower School of Music supplemental application via Acceptd

Specialized (limited access) admission — apply first as a pre-music major, then audition for acceptance into the major

Supplemental application deadline: June 1 for fall admission, November 1 for spring admission

Dates and details for the Spring 2027 and Fall 2027 cycles will be posted by August 28, 2026

Admitted students take a Music Theory Placement Exam and (if applicable) a Class Piano Placement Evaluation at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Acceptd application fee: 20 USD per program — fee waivers available with documentation

What's The Process

Audition Process

Auditions for Fall 2026 admission are complete; dates and information for Spring 2027 and Fall 2027 will be posted by August 28, 2026

Requirements reflect the most recent (2025-2026) audition cycle

Applicants complete a short interview about career goals and musical experience as part of the audition

Prescreen

Voice, piano, guitar, and saxophone applicants also submit required prescreen videos via Acceptd in addition to the singing videos

Other instruments audition live or by recorded submission without a prescreen

Audition Expectations

On-campus audition on the selected date

Out-of-state and international applicants may submit recorded auditions and participate in a Zoom interview with the area head

Interview

Zoom interview with the Music Therapy Coordinator (Dr. Sena Moore), held before Audition Day

Discusses your interest in music therapy and experience with people of diverse ages, abilities, and cultures

Sight-reading at the audition assesses musicianship

Decisions

Acceptance/non-acceptance letters sent via email approximately 2 weeks after each audition

Admission requires acceptance by both the Bower School of Music and FGCU Admissions

If denied, may reapply the following semester; denied twice = no longer eligible

Music Scholarship

The admission audition also serves as the scholarship audition — no separate scholarship audition required

Complete both the FAFSA and the FGCU Foundation Scholarship application to be eligible

FGCU Foundation Scholarship application open October 1 - May 1; FAFSA priority filing deadline March 1

Renewal Requirements

Maintain overall 2.5 GPA with no F grades

Maintain 3.0 GPA in music classes with no grades below C

Demonstrate continuing progress through applied lessons, ensemble performance, recital appearances, and jury examinations
