Prescreen Requirements

Monologues

Two Contrasting Monologues from Published Plays, 3 Min Total

Must be from published plays — no self-written work, musicals, movies, or novels

At least one must be contemporary

"Contrasting" can mean two contemporary monologues with different energy

Material Selection

Must read the entire play to understand your character

Pick material with strong objectives and age-appropriate roles

Avoid monologue anthologies that contain pieces not from full plays

Good to Know

Application Logistics

As of October 13, 2026, no FIU Theatre track on GetAcceptd is open for submissions; contact the Theatre department for current prescreen submission instructions

Submit prescreen materials via Acceptd

Complete the FIU application (Common App or FIU portal) before submitting to Acceptd; the department cannot review an Acceptd file without it

FIU publishes no separate theatre deadline for the university application, so submit it before your Acceptd deadline rather than by FIU's later March 2 final deadline

Eligibility

Transfer students may audition and be admitted

Placement in acting sequence based on audition and interview results, regardless of previous coursework

Fall enrollment only

Audition Process

Submit video audition through Acceptd portal

Video auditions accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year

Slate your name, degree, Panther ID (if applicable), and introduce each piece

Re-auditioning requires new material

Invitation-only, on campus at FIU Theatre

Callbacks scheduled twice per year

Callback details are sent with your invitation

Decisions announced approximately 45 days after callbacks
