Optional audition for scholarship consideration - not required for program admission.

Repertoire list (required)

•Prepare repertoire and technical studies on your principal instrument or voice, following your area requirements (vocal, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion)

Resume (required)

•Student Resume Form (Checklist of Musical Activities and Participation)

Recommendation (required)

•One letter of recommendation using the department Form Letter of Recommendation

Admission

•Apply through the ESU application portal

•Rolling admissions

•Choose the Instrumental Music track or Vocal Music track; second-area certification is available

Teacher Education

•The teacher education program is jointly administered by the Department of Music and the School of Leadership, Middle and Secondary Teacher Education

•Students must be admitted to Teacher Education and meet all General Education and Professional Education requirements

•Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement assessment for course placement only, not admission

What's The Process

Principal-Instrument Audition

•Music Talent Scholarship auditions are available via Zoom or in person on your principal instrument or voice

•Use your instrument or voice area requirements (prepared repertoire, technical studies, and sight-reading or sight-singing)

•Complete the Opportunities in Music Form to schedule an audition date

•An accompanist is provided at no charge

Teacher Education Admission

•Beyond music admission, students must be admitted to the Teacher Education program to continue in the music education concentration

•Admission and certification requirements follow the Bachelor of Science in Education - Secondary Education major

•Complete General Education and Professional Education requirements for PreK-12 licensure

Scholarship Info

Music Talent Scholarships

•Awarded based on musical talent, academic progress, leadership, and participation in music activities

•Any student may audition regardless of academic major

•Requires enrollment and participation in a major music ensemble each semester

•Renewable annually pending completion of requirements and re-audition

•Scholarship amounts range from $2,000-$3,000 per semester, with increasing amounts each year
