Callback Requirements

TWO CONTRASTING SONGS, ~1 min each

•Accompanist provided — bring sheet music in proper key
Monologues
TWO 1-3 MINUTE CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES from two contemporary plays (1950–present)
•One MUST be comedic
•May use prescreen monologue if it meets requirements
Dance
DANCE CALL (in-person auditions)
•Dance call included at all in-person auditions
•Virtual auditions use prescreen dance video
ATTIRE:
•Practical clothes with jazz shoes, character shoes, or dance sneakers
Additional Materials
MUSICIANSHIP EXERCISE
•Brief exercise at live audition
•Evaluates ability to match pitch, remember short musical phrase, and sight-sing simple melodic line

•Fall enrollment only — may only apply to one Emerson program

What's The Process
PRESCREEN:
•Uses Musical Theater Common Prescreen (MTCP) Option A
•Results within 2 weeks via Acceptd messages
•If not invited to MT audition, may be invited to audition for BFA Theatre & Performance
LIVE AUDITION:
•Invitation-only after passing prescreen
•Boston in-person: 5-hour block with dance call, info session, flexible "volunteering" order
•Outside-Boston in-person: info session, group dance call, then individual audition slots
•Virtual: via Acceptd AuditionRoom with info session then individual slots
SCHEDULING:
•Slots first-come, first-served — fill up as early as August
•Not all audition types available during every part of the cycle
•Audition modality/location has NO bearing on admission decision
