Expert Tips

Do not apply to Elon if you cannot travel to campus, NY Unifieds or Chicago Unifieds. Virtual auditions are not offered.

For 2027, we recommend getting your prescreens in on the earlier side, around September/early October. Once they pass 200 people who make appointments for New York Unifieds and 300 people who make appointments for Chicago Unifieds, applications will close.

Applicants are not required to submit the Common App until they have passed the prescreen. Money saved!

Application Logistics

•Submit prescreen materials through Acceptd; $80 audition application fee

•Applicants may submit only one application per academic program during a given audition cycle

•Applicants who are not admitted may reapply in a future audition cycle, up to a lifetime maximum of two applications to the same academic program

•No refunds of audition or admissions application fees

Eligibility

•Acceptance to the BFA Music Theatre program also requires separate admission to Elon University

•Department audition process and university admission may be completed in either order, so long as all relevant deadlines are met

•Elon general admission deadline listed on Acceptd: January 10, 2027

•Music Theatre is currently accepting transfer applications only for students planning to graduate in Spring 2031

•Applications for other anticipated graduation years are not being considered at this time

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Two-phase audition process; not all applicants will be asked to complete Phase 2

•Submit prescreen via Acceptd; late submissions will not be reviewed and deadlines cannot be extended

•Current Acceptd listing gives fall prescreen deadline as September 15 and winter/spring prescreen deadline as December 1

•Fall audition invitations released by October 9

•Winter/spring audition invitations released by January 11

•Music Theatre callback audition dates listed: October 30 and November 6 on campus; January 23-24 at New York Unifieds; February 1-3 at Chicago Unifieds; February 5, February 12, and February 19 on campus

•New York Unifieds may close earlier if the 200-application cap is reached

•Chicago Unifieds may close earlier if the 300-application cap is reached

•There are no virtual audition dates

•Applicants who pass the prescreen are invited to an in-person callback

•Callback scheduling is first-come, first-served; once a date is full, choose an alternate

•Once an audition date has been scheduled, it cannot be changed
