•BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography — intensive study in technical, creative, theoretical, historical, and analytical areas of dance
•Conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting
•The curriculum integrates technique, choreography, somatic practice, dance science, and production work for students pursuing professional performance, choreography, or graduate study
Training
•21st century dance training: technical training, creative exploration, choreographic skills, body-mind centering
•Advanced levels of ballet, contemporary modern, and West African required
•Studio electives: jazz, tap, world dance, musical theatre dance
•Somatic movement: structural yoga for dancers, classical Pilates, experiential anatomy
Performance & Productions
•Three main-stage dance productions per year: Dancing in the Landscape, Fall Dance Concert, and Spring Dance Concert
•Additional: Red Circle Showcase, senior thesis projects, Black History Month Concert
•Choreography showings and American College Dance Association Conference presentations
Professional Development
•Students attend major conferences: NCDEO, American College Dance Association
